📗 This content is the Demand Gen Ads Optimizer user manual, the same one the script writes in the «Manual» tab of its spreadsheet. Here you can search it, listen to it, highlight it and save it to favourites.
What it does. It lets you pause ads from the spreadsheet itself, without opening Google Ads. The script uses AdsApp.mutate (direct API access), the only mechanism Google Ads Scripts offers to modify Demand Gen campaigns.
How to use it. 1) Tick the ad "Pause" checkbox: in Summary (column C), in PendingAlerts (first column), in Creative Fatigue ("Pause ad": it pauses the ad holding the tired asset) or in Duplicate Ads (it pauses ONLY that copy). 2) On the NEXT run the script really pauses them. 3) You get a confirmation email. If the same ad is ticked in several tabs, it is paused only once.
Paused sheet. A permanent record of every pause the script has applied: date, campaign, ad group, ad and their IDs. If a pause fails, the error is recorded there.
If a pause fails. The checkbox stays ticked and the script retries on the next run. The error shows in the Paused sheet and in the Log.
Safety. The script NEVER pauses anything on its own: it only pauses what you tick. Paused ads drop out of the reports (only active ads are analysed).
Watcher (v1.39). On every run the script checks the real status of every ad it has paused. If one is ACTIVE again, it is flagged in Paused ("⚠ REACTIVATED"), recorded in the Log and you get an alert email.
Automatically created ads. WATCH OUT: "automatically created" video ads are recreated and re-enabled by Google while the campaign has automated video creation switched on. Pausing them is not final: turn that option off in the campaign settings.
