ChatGPT Ads manual · What the tool is and what ChatGPT Ads allows

⏱️ 6 min read · 🤖 ChatGPT Ads · updated on 2026-09-26

📗 This is the user manual for the Suite for ChatGPT Ads, the tool in the Ninja Scripts panel. Here you can search it, listen to it, highlight it and save it to favourites. It is updated with every release of the tool.

The Suite for ChatGPT Ads is a control panel for your ChatGPT Ads campaigns: it reads your account, tells you what is going on, proposes what to change and — once you approve — changes it for you. It runs on our server against OpenAI's ads API, so there is nothing to install: you connect a key and that's it.

The two rules that never bend

Everything in this manual rests on two guarantees. If you ever see something break them, that's a bug on our side and we want to know (💬 button, bottom right).

  1. Nothing is written to your account unless you click a button. The tool proposes; you decide. There is no automatic mode, no «autopilot», nothing acting on its own overnight. The only exception is the one you set up on purpose: the ⏰ Ad schedule, which turns campaigns on and off at the hours you choose.
  2. Everything created is created PAUSED. A new campaign, a new ad group, an ad variant: they are born paused and spend nothing until you activate them. You can change that with a checkbox, but the default is that.

On top of those, a third habit: every change is logged and almost everything can be undone. 🕰️ Changes gives you the timeline of what happened in the account, who did it and when.

What OpenAI's platform does NOT allow

This is the most useful thing you can read before you start, and you won't find it anywhere else: we checked it ourselves, asking their API and seeing what comes back. If you come from Google Ads, there are things here you will look for and not find.

What you'd look for Reality
Search terms or conversation report Doesn't exist. There is no way to know which conversation showed your ad. What replaces it is refining your context hints and splitting into groups by intent.
Negative keywords or exclusions Don't exist, of any kind. Nothing to exclude.
Value-based bidding (tROAS) Doesn't exist. Only fixed bid, maximise clicks and maximise conversions. The only quality lever is choosing WHICH event counts as the campaign's conversion.
Bid adjustments by device or country Don't exist. You work around it by splitting campaigns.
Native hour-of-day scheduling Doesn't exist on the platform. We add it from our server (⏰ Schedule).
Quality Score Doesn't exist. Our 📐 relevance index replaces it.
Clicks and spend by country or device Impressions only. Their API does not break clicks or spend down by segment; the tables say so with a «—» instead of a zero.
Customer lists (excluding your own clients) Not allowed for campaigns targeting the European Economic Area or Switzerland.
Changing the objective of an existing campaign Not possible. The objective (clicks or conversions) is set at creation and is immutable: an ad group in a clicks campaign will never be able to bid for conversions, whether or not an event is attached. If you need it, you clone the campaign with the other objective (🧬 Clone).
A manager (MCC-style) account Doesn't exist. Every account is independent; the joint view across accounts is what this panel gives you.

💡 This is not a list of complaints: it's the map. Half an hour of hunting for a feature that doesn't exist is saved by reading this table.

And an honest warning about the data

ChatGPT Ads is a young platform. It changes from one week to the next, it adjusts figures retroactively and it attributes conversions days later. That's why many screens carry notices about data freshness and minimum sample sizes before giving a verdict. It isn't decorative caution: with little data, a striking figure is almost always noise.
