📗 This is the user manual for the Suite for ChatGPT Ads, the tool in the Ninja Scripts panel. Here you can search it, listen to it, highlight it and save it to favourites. It is updated with every release of the tool.
Connecting an account takes two minutes and there is nothing to install: no spreadsheet, no code on your website, no permissions in Google.
1 · Create the Ads API key
In your ChatGPT Ads Manager: Settings → API Keys → create a key. Copy it (it is shown only once) and paste it into ⚙️ Settings in this panel.
Three things worth knowing:
- The key is stored encrypted and never shown in full again: the panel only displays its last four characters, enough to recognise it.
- One key per account. If you manage several ChatGPT Ads accounts, you create a key in each and connect them all: the home page adds them up with their figures, which is the joint view the platform doesn't have.
- Disconnecting an account deletes its key and its data on our side. Nothing is touched in your ChatGPT Ads account.
2 · The other key: the conversions one
They are two different keys and they get confused all the time:
| Key | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Ads API | Reading the account and applying the changes you approve | Settings → API Keys |
| Conversions | Sending conversions from the server (leads, sales) | Tools → Conversions → the key icon 🔑 at the top right |
That key icon has no label and sits between the ? and «Warnings»: it is the hardest thing to find in the whole setup, so the 🎯 Conversions screen carries a diagram pointing straight at it. The conversions key is only shown when you create it. You only need it if you are going to send conversions from the server (section 16 of this manual).
3 · How often the data is read
Once an hour. Each read asks OpenAI for the account structure (campaigns, ad groups with their hints, ads with their review status), the reasons anything isn't serving, and performance for the last 30 days.
And from that comes the single most important rule for not misreading a table:
⚠️ «Today» is never complete. What you see for today goes up to the time of the last read. The last closed day is yesterday — and even that can be revised, because OpenAI attributes conversions up to 7 days after the click.
That's why every screen has a line at the foot telling you when the last read happened and which is the last closed day. If that line warns you in bold that the read is behind (more than three hours), what you are looking at is not current.
The «last N days» ranges in the selector end yesterday, on purpose: if they included today, the average would drop by itself every morning.
4 · Looking around before connecting: the demo account
On the 🤖 ChatGPT Ads home page there is a button to create a demo account: an invented account, with two months of coherent data, for walking through all twenty screens full before connecting your own.
- It never reads from or writes to OpenAI. Anything that would touch a real account is stopped with a notice.
- It doesn't use up a licence or a slot in your plan.
- It resets or goes away with one click.
It's the best place to learn: you can press any button without fear.
5 · What happens after connecting
- Within minutes you'll have the first read and the screens fill up.
- The watchdog starts watching: brand review pending, campaigns not serving, rejected ads, low bid, spend with no conversions… and emails you only when something new appears. Never on the first read, so you aren't welcomed with a list of scares.
- For the bidding recommendations and half of the 🩺 Audit to work, set your target cost per conversion in 💡 Recommendations. Without that number nobody can say whether what you're paying is right.
